I specialise rather than take on general carpentry work … the reasoning being that narrowing to decking and pergolas builds a level of authority in that specific craft that a generalist doesn't get, and lets me work solo rather than as part of a rotating crew. That single-craftsman model is the core of how I run things: no subcontracted team, one consistent person on site from the first cut to the last board, and every quote written and itemised against your real garden rather than given as a rough figure over the phone.
